Well I guess it's time for a few words from the frozen few in the north countries. The sun has finally made it's presence felt. It's beautiful in Idaho in the spring! We are in a frantic rage to fertilize and stay ahead of the farmers who want to plant. We are down to about 5 fields left and then we can sigh in relief and head to sunny California to meet up with you all! I can actually say I'm looking forward to Disneyland. I guess it's true when they say, "time heals all wounds". I'm making it known right here and now that I speak to take the grand kids on Peter Pan, Pirates and the spooky mansion. There will be no discussion on the matter. Grandma and I still have a few privileges.
Today we had stake conference which was really regional conference via satellite broadcast from SLC and it was great. Pres Uchtdorf gave us some interesting stats and thoughts. He said that there are 270,000 people in this area and I know that the growth is projected to be 1,000,000 in the next 5 years. He said people would come here as a refuge. He said there are 67 stakes in this region with 1832 missionaries in the field from here. He said that historically this is a great place from which many missionaries come, but challenged every young man to serve a mission. If you figure it out that's about 3.5 missionaries/ward. We're making more perspective elders than we are making missionaries. He asked us 2 questions. What are you doing to increase your personal faith? What are you doing in your family and marriage to increase your faith?
He said 3 things must happen. 1. We must all have a current temple recommend. (CTR) temple worthy all the time! 2. Study the word of God. (2 pages) 3.Speak with God each day and listen. This old world is in chaos. Do your best to prepare for tougher times to come. We love you and pray for each of you each day. CTR and keep smiling, Love Dad
